Copy Into via Drag and Drop

In my last tip I explained how to use the "Copy Into" feature of Lotus Notes via your mail file's action bar.  Today's tip shows how to use Copy Into via Drag and Drag.

As shown in the animation below, you can select an email message and drag and drop it onto the Calendar icon in your Bookmark bar.

You can also drag and drop the selected email onto the To Do icon in your Bookmark bar...

and Notes will fill in the Subject, Body, and Participants (if you select assign to others) for you.

    Hi Alan,

what's the name of the tool to create such gifs? I think it is a good idea for documentation.

    Regards

I use SnagIt and Camtasia to create my images/videos.

Doesn't work with the Address Book though, which I've always found a bit odd. It would be nice to drag an email to the Address Book and have the option to create an entry from it. Instead, the Address Book opens when you drag an email over it, but you can't drop anything in there that I can see. Not in R7 Beta 4 either.

    What's the deal there?

    Cheers,

    - Mike

You can't drag and email to the address book icon (that I know of), but you can use "Add sender to Address Book", and you can drag a vCard from your file system into the address book. I'll be creating a tip about that soon.

Alan, could you please advise of any links/references/etc... that you know of that relate specifically to the To Do feature in Lotus Notes.

I love the idea of being able to "copy into" a To Do, but then find it all a bit clumsy.

    Thanks, Liam
