iPod Touch Copies Lotus Notes
Rarely have I wanted a device that I have no need for, as badly as I do the Apple iPod Touch. There is nothing about it that I need, but I still want one.
However, while watching the What's New To Touch video, I could not help but laugh at something...
At 6:23 of the video, the presenter explains the new "Customize Home Screen" feature. Where he says "You can arrange the icons however you want, and even have multiple home screen pages, in fact you can now have up to 9 home screen pages... you can then drag any icon to a new location... to move an icon to different home screen page, drag the icon to the edge of the screen"
WOW! The iPod can now do what Notes has been able to do for a decade!!!
This demo shows drag and dropping database icons into new positions, dragging icons to new tabs, creating new tabs, and naming and colouring tabs.
I know the icons on the Touch are much more modern looking than those in Notes, and the way they wiggle when you move them is very cool! But still, you gotta give me this one to gloat about!
There are certainly things I'd like to see improved in the Notes workspace, such as rearranging the tabs, adding "non-Notes" elements (web links, application icons, Google gadgets), being able to sort the icons (by name, by created date, by last accessed, by location), improving the look of the icons, changing background colours, and a few others, but I'm still pretty impressed with what you can do today, especially when I see that Apple is playing catch-up. :-)
