Today at the DNUG / IBM Technical Forum event in Germany, Lotus unveiled a lot of amazing new information about the next release of Lotus Notes. Please look at this new page on the Lotus web site which provides information, screen shots, and FAQs.
One of the biggest announcements was that in addition to all the enhancements and innovations in email, calendar, contacts, instant messaging, and applications... word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation capabilities will also be integrated into this next release!
These new IBM productivity tools will support the Open Document Format (ODF) standard. That means you and your colleagues can share documents, charts, and presentations with anyone using products that support this standard. You won't have to rely on one specific vendor for your "office" documents.
Please visit Ed Brill's blog for more information about today's announcements.
