"What's in a name? That which we call
a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." -William Shakespeare
Well today's tip may not smell like roses, but it will teach you that "what's in a name" is actually several useful functions that you may not know about.
When you move your cursor over a name in the sender, to, cc, or bcc of an email, or the chair or invitees in a calendar entry, you will notice the names become underlined. If you right-click on one of the names you will be presented with the following menu:

From this menu you can create a new memo (email) or meeting invite (calendar entry) and have the selected name automatically filled in for you. With Notes 6.5 or greater you can additionally start an instant message (chat) with the person, and you can add them to your Instant Contact List.
Here is an example scenario: My manager sends an email asking our entire team a question about a project. I may need to have a "side conversation" with one of my peers to get information before providing my response. Rather than "Replying to All", I instead highlight the name I want to email, and choose "Create Memo to". (of chat with if they are on-line)
Similarly, during meetings I often need to contact one of the other invitees. For example, I may be on a conference call with lots of people, when one of the participants says "Can you send me that information". Rather than ask them to spell out their name, I simply select them from the calendar entry and "Create Memo to".

The remaining option on the right click menu is "Show Name Details". If the name is contained in your Personal Address Book, than their Contact Record is displayed. This allows you to quickly see things like their phone number, or mailing address.

If the name is not found in your Personal Address Book, Notes searches through any other available address books, such as a Mobile Directory Catalogs, or your company's address book on your home mail server.
