SuccessFactors and Plateau Focus On Business Execution
As the CEO of a company that focuses on the "human" parts of business such as talent acquisition, learning and peer reviews, Lars Dalgaard certainly walks the talk. Today during his keynote at the SuccessFactors Insights 2011 Conference Lars took to the stage with his 2 year old son in his arms and explained that executives have families too. During his talk he left the stage and walked trough the aisles as he expressed sincere thanks to their customers. He proudly talked about SuccessFactors leadership position, which they believe is even more solid now after the acquisition of Plateau Systems, one of the leaders in enterprise learning management. Lars is clearly a leader who cares about his company and his customers.
SuccessFactors has been on quite the spending spree over the last 18 months or so as they continue to build out their Business Execution Suite. The Plateau Systems (which will now be known as SuccessFactors Learning) acquisition is latest of several, including:
Combined SuccessFactors and Plateau have approximately 15 million subscription seats, and it's clear that their goal is to provide the most complete Business Execution suite in the industry. Lars, along with Chief Integration Officer Paul Sparta (former CEO of Plateau) enthusiastically addressed the audience regarding the opportunities now available to the merged companies (ex: $50M in research & development spending) as well as acknowledged the challenges of integrating Plateau's current on-premises solutions into SuccessFactors cloud based platform. Paul announced a roadmap that includes a minimum of 5 years of support for Plateau on-premise customers.
Two weeks ago at the HR Tech conference in Las Vegas, SuccessFactors introduced Jam, which blends their Business Execution features with the power and user experience of today's social networking tools.
This afternoon I will be attending the analyst events at Insights 2011, after which I will provide more updates.
