Bruce suggest I blog about this, given my history of defending how the "notoriously horrible Notes UI" is actually not so horrible at all. In fact, it did a lot of things a decade before anyone else, like window tabs and the workspace, and other products often create similar UIs.
iTunes 8
Lotus Notes 8.
Yes, I know the Notes workspace needs an update. Sure, I wish the Notes workspace icons could be high resolution images (look how nice those albulm covers look in iTunes) and had more sort options (I'd love to sort by name, created date, last accessed date, server name, etc), but the point is... the designers a decade ago understood that visual orientation of objects is a very useful navigation method. Nice to see iTunes justifying it.
Perhaps all iTunes users should be offered a discount on Lotus Notes. How cool would it be if iTunes could sync your Notes calendar and contacts? (I'm teasing, well partially, don't start ranting please) Now there is a marketing campaign in the making! "Hi I'm Mac, and I'm Lotus Notes..."
