The Amazingly Extendable Notes 8!

One of the most important things about Notes 8, is that fact that it can now be extended (due to the new Eclipse-based architecture) to do almost anything!  You've probably heard us talk about Composite Applications, but that is just the beginning.  Developers can add/extend functionality to both the Sidebar, and to the Toolbars.    For example, check out the stock ticker below running in my Lotus Notes toolbar!  (No, I can't post the code for it at the moment, we are looking at ways of delivering things via some type of catalog in the future)

However, you can get lots of other examples, and code from articles such as the following:
Extending the IBM Lotus Notes V8 sidebar and toolbar
Integrating IBM Lotus Notes data into the Lotus Notes V8 sidebar and toolbar
Leveraging user context in the IBM Lotus Notes V8 sidebar and toolbar

I especially like "Journal It", where you can enter any information you want about a document, and whenever you navigate back to that document, your notes are available in the Sidebar!   (without editing the actual document).   This is SOOOOOOOOOOOO useful! (and cool!)
