Twitter Stuff

As the trends of "web 2.0" ebb and flow, different tools seems to be cool, then not, then cool again.   I signed up for Twitter close to when it first launched, but rarely used it.   Then along came Facebook which I love, yet once again many people are talking about Twitter.  (usually due to their hatred of Facebook's overkill with apps).  I usually use TwitterBerry on my BlackBerry Curve to update my status, which then synchs that status to Facebook.  I'm going to try Flock at some point soon.

Anyway, last week when I was travelling in Israel, I was amazed at how many people were "following me" via Twitter.   I find it odd, flattering, scary, and cool all at the same time.   I think of updating my status as sort of a "dear diary" to myself.   I can look back at my archives, and see what I was doing, what I was thinking, where I was, etc.  My oddest Twit so far, was standing on top of Masada last week, Blackberry in hand, and updating my status.  It felt so wrong, and yet amazing at the same time, to be able to share the experience of being there with everyone.   Also, the detail of information many people provide is fantastic.  There is a big different between, "catching up on work" vs "listening to a podcast on social networking at http://....".   I've actually learned a ton from some people's twits.

Now what I am not good at (I mentioned this around Lotusphere, and I've still not gotten any better) is in tracking and answering people's Replies to my Twits.  TwitterBerry has a menu option for "Get Replies", but mine is always blank, so something must be wrong.  When I look at Replies on the Twitter web site, I can see the dozens and dozens of items you've all sent to me via @alanlepo.  I've just added the RSS feed for Replies to my feedreader, so I should be more up to date with them.  What I don't know yet, is if this is good or bad.  I already struggle to keep up with emails (work and personal), chats (work and personal), and blogs (work and personal) so now this seems like another place I have to look.  I'm sure I'll adjust though.

I think this proves Twitter is pretty effective!

Question, how do I add a Twitter Archive to my blog?  I've added the Twitter badge for the current post (look on the left side of this site), but can I create a link to my entire history?

If you have no idea what I've been talking about in this post, the awesome team at Common Craft has provided a great introduction video, Twitter In Plain English:
