What I Hope To Hear About At JiveWorld

Jive HeroOctober 9-12, Jive Software is hosting their annual conference JiveWorld in Las Vegas. Jive is one of the most important Social Business vendors, having helped shape the market in terms of both messaging and product design, so I'm very eager to see what they have in store this year.

Here are a few of the areas I hope to hear about.

Product Roadmap:
Via a combination of acquisitions and their own development, Jive has spent the last few years building quite an impressive platform. In addition to the standard collaboration features they offer things like Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Outlook integration, social media monitoring and engagement and analytics on platform usage. So what are they going to announce this year? Will the next release of Jive simply offer incremental improvements to existing features, or will Jive introduce something new and innovative?

Market Leadership:
There is a saying in professional sports that is easier to become #1 than stay number #1. The same could be said for software companies, as time and time again we've seen market leaders dominate a category only to be surpassed soon there after by their competition. How will the next version of Microsoft SharePoint affect the social business market, especially when combined with Yammer? Will Salesforce's recent surge in mindshare steal Jive's thunder? Will the social business offerings from giants like IBM, SAP, Oracle, Cisco and Citrix provide what enterprise customers need? Can Google finally make headway in the enterprise social business market? I'd like to hear Jive's plans for remaining in their leadership position given the increasingly competitive landscape.

Platform Ecosystem:
Jive was one of the first enterprise software vendors to provide an "application store" to enable the use of 3rd party add-ons and integrations. They are also one of the leaders in the support of the OpenSocial standard. I hope to hear about how their business partner ecosystem is growing and what they are doing to provide incentives to application developers.

Will you be at JiveWorld in Las Vegas?  If so, please make sure to introduce yourself.

Disclosure: Jive Software is a customer of Constellation Research.
